Apparently, Google has silently introduced a new service called Google Sites. A service aimed for a club, or a group of people to collaborate and maintain small web sites
According to the short description available on their we page:
Google Sites makes creating and sharing a group web site easy.
- Single-click page creation
- No HTML required
- Customizable look and feel
- Settings for accessing and sharing information
- And it's free!
Google is making this service similar to small wiki pages of small offices and business.
Go check out the new service. I created a test site in few minutes and no coding experience is required, for simple web site creation.
Google Sites, free account has a storage space limit of 100 MB. There is no limit, as far as I could see, as to how many sites you can create using your Google Account. There is a premier account available. I have not checked the pricing and features and compared against the free account.
One notable feature, if you have Google Analytics Account, you can link Google Sites to the same account. Cool. I tried that feature, but got some error. Got to check it leisurely later.
Also, Google Site provides rudimentary visioning of your site.
